There is no single senior birthday
AAHA defines the senior stage relative to estimated lifespan. Ask your veterinarian how to interpret that stage for your individual dog.
Bring observations from home
Make notes about changes in movement, access to favorite places and daily routines. AAHA’s checklist considers environmental adaptations for mobility, sight and hearing. Discuss which changes would fit your home and dog rather than assuming all older dogs need the same equipment.

The appointment guide helps organize observations. Use feeding questions and preventive-care planning for related topics.
This preview does not yet offer detailed geriatric-condition guides. Individual changes need veterinary assessment.
